Pipe District is the place you want to hang out with your family, friends and loved ones.

It's my third time at Pipe District and I realised I haven't reviewed about this beautiful place before. The drive to this cafe has always been smooth — maybe because it's located right in an industrial park so there isn't much traffic. In fact, it's free parking over the weekends so we always enjoy taking our time dining here without having to think about the carpark charges!

Ambience

Decorations at Pipe District stand out — crates hang over the ceiling and on the walls and soft warm lighting illuminates the cafe. The tables are pretty unique — each table has a rotating wheel which allows you to adjust the table's height. I was being pretty mischievous during my first visit and tried to adjust the table's height while my boyfriend was eating — in the end I couldn't adjust it back down and the wait staff had to come over to help us! *laughs gleefully* They also have a merchandise area to sell some unique stuffs. I must also mention that they have a really awesome playlist and sound system!

One of the wait staff came over to ask how the soup was. My mother mentioned that the soup was quite diluted and bland — and it became pretty awkward as the wait staff did not seem to expect such negative feedback. "Ummm... okay... should i change it for you?" said the wait staff. My mum also felt awkward being honest so she said its okay, she just thought that the wait staff wanted feedback.

It was also very funny to see my father's reaction on the scottish salmon — he initially thought that the salmon was burnt! It may have been a lot more beautiful if the salmon was served as it is — maybe charcoal fillet would work better with dory. However, I think the crispy soft-shell crab pasta (S$14) and smoked duck (S$14) is worth trying. It's one of the few safe dishes that we always order at The Pipe District.

Sometimes they also have live bands and private functions as well — I remember my friends being pretty disappointed when they couldn't enter the premise because they were closed for a private function. We made payment at the counter but the vibe was pretty awkward - (e.g. wait staff didn't say anything, at all)... maybe it's because the character of the place is pretty much cool, and I guess silence is cool
